The Apple Wreath

Lime green seems to be my new favorite color these days!  It has Spring/Summer written all over it!  It will work as an accent in almost any decor, and looks especially fantastic on the front porch!!  I have been gushing over apple wreaths this season and have finally attempted one of my own!

It was super easy to make!  All you need it a grapevine wreath, artifical apples, greenery of some sort, and a few sprigs of color!  I bought all of my supplies at Hobby Lobby for less than 20 dollars!

I tucked the greenery and sprigs into the grapevine wreath.  I then tied down a few areas that needed more security.  The apples were simply hot glued directly to the wreath.

Not too shabby for less than 20 bucks!!  What does your front door look like this season??

One year ago today....

A year ago today I sat behind this very computer, hands sweating, thinking, "Should I do it, what will people think, is this representing who I truly am?"  Then with my eyes closed and the click of the mouse, I did it....I hit PUBLISH for the first time!  It's crazy to go back, 105 posts ago and read what my very first thoughts were.....

"Here I am….looking at my life swirl around me; weeks feel like days, days feel like seconds.  With the blink of an eye another year has rolled around.  I feel like I just graduated high school…but in all reality my TEN year reunion is in 2 weeks!!  My little girl, that I swear I just gave birth to, will be turning 2 soon, and the house we just purchased has now been lived in for 4 years!!

Where has the time gone?  I seem to get so wrapped up in my everyday obsessions that I sometimes forget to take a moment and “enjoy.”  I need to cherish the moment where my little one reaches up to hold my hand (I hear they don’t do that when they are teenagers!), or watching her communicate with her pointer finger because the only word that comes out of her mouth these days is “Bah.”     So, in turn, one of my New Years resolutions was to just ENJOY….stop wishing my life away…stop PLANNING so much…(I can’t believe I just said that outloud….my husband would be so proud!!)

I’ve been tossing around the idea of starting a blog for a while now….Honestly, the first thought of it seemed intimidating….putting all of my thoughts, crafts, ideas out there for everyone to see! How scary!  Especially since I’m definitely not a writer, I’m not the best speller, I seem to write lots of run-on sentences, and I LOVE to overuse punctuation….!!!  :) :)

But after a lot of contemplating, the idea became exciting!   This can be my outlet for the ba-zillion ideas whirling around in my head.  I can hope to inspire others with my creativity.  I can journal our special family memories.   All in all, I can use this to “balance” everything that makes up my life!

Thus, the journey begins; balancing the everyday obsessions that make me who I am, while enjoying each moment before it passes too quickly! ….  Welcome to my perfectly imperfect world!!   Is there anyone out there??  If so, I would love to hear from you!!"

"Thus, the journey begins; balancing the everyday obsessions that make me who I am, while enjoying each moment before it passes too quickly!"

This very statement is the true premise of my blog!  I try to stand by it with each post that I write!!  Whether it be crafts, photography, family memories or daily inspiration, I have enjoyed documenting everything happening in my crazy hectic world!  Thank you to my followers, and thank you for those who comment!!   I am so excited to see what this next year of blogging may bring!!

Runners take your place.....

On your Mark......Get Set....GOOOOOO!!!!!  That's right!!!  On Saturday, this little lady ran in the Bill Gregory 5K!!  There were 3000 people attending!  All were participating in either a 2K, 5K, or 10K!

I am so pleased to annouce that this number crossed the 5K finish line in 29:18!!!

3 months of training, a lot of sweat and stubborness on my side, but well worth every minute of it!!  I can't wait until next year!!  Watch out boys....I may be pulling a 25 minute run next time!!

Photo Friday #15.....

Two lovely bird nests found in my grandparents backyard!  Sadly they were abandoned, but look at the beauty left behind!  This is my first time seeing unhatched bird eggs.  Absolutely stunning!  Nature is constantly reminding us of its simplistic beauty that surrounds us everyday!

Cornbread is my friend.....

Being a southern girl, you will never catch me saying no to cornbread and pinto beans!!  Luckily, last weekend we had our fair share of both at the National Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburg, TN!!

Everyone was lined up listening to good music and enjoying the smell of fresh cornbread!

Mmmm...raw cornbread batter!!!

Freshly made Kettle corn....

Antique Jack was my favorite entertainment of the day!!

Look at these antique toys!!!

You can't go to a festival without riding the ferris wheel....

Julia and Daddy K walking the streets of South Pittsburg!

And that wraps up our weekend trip!!  I can't wait until next year!
